Radioactive contamination

Danger of RADIOACTIVE POLLUTION may arise as a result of a radiation accident, cross-border transmission or violation of safety measures when working with sources of ionizing radiation. Issues related to the security of nuclear power plants are of paramount importance. Continuous radiation control is carried out and extremely strict preventive measures are taken to prevent an emergency danger from the NPP. Information is exchanged through the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) at the UN, bilateral agreements have been signed between neighboring countries for notification and assistance.

The probability of an accident at a nuclear power plant is kept to a minimum. In case of security, an emergency response organization is provided. Plans and estimates have been developed and funds for individual and collective protection have been provided. In a radiation situation, people can receive radiation from radioactive contamination: externally when staying in a contaminated area and internally - by inhaling radioactive air, as well as through food and water. In case of increased radioactivity, there is a danger for people, but protection from radioactive radiation is possible. The specialized state bodies envisage measures to limit the exposure of the population, but in order to be able to follow the instructions more precisely in each specific situation, it is good to have prior knowledge.
